Forest Bathing – 5 hour sessions with a late vegan lunch cooked on an open fire
Forest bathing originated in Japan and is known as shinrin-yoku, which loosely translated means emersing yourself in the forest atmosphere. Fully clothed, no water involved, you might be happy to hear.
It was established in the 1980’s as a preventative health care measure and is now prescribed on the NHS as preventative, clinical and rehabilitation medicine.
Walking slowly through a woodland, ideally an ancient forest, whilst involving all of our 5 senses helps us switch into our ‘rest and digest’ mode where we deeply relax and activate our own healing capacities.
This, coupled with inhaling the beneficial tree particles within the woodland air, has shown in numerous studies to further relax and enhance physiological and mental health.
